A 109TH Groovy Happening takes place at Haworth next weekend.

The event is upstairs at the Parkside Social Club on Saturday, September 4, from 7.30pm.

Admission is £4, with all proceeds going to Manorlands.

Since the first Groovy Happening was held, £38,300 has been raised for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

First-up will be Evie Shepherd, known as Evy, who is making her second appearance at the events.

She plays acoustic guitar versions of Indie, pop and rock music and pens some of her own material.

Evy will be followed by Groovy Happening newcomer The Veese. The band plays indie rock ‘n’ roll – with influences including Oasis, The Clash and The Libertines.

Third on stage is Liam Jarvis, a regular favourite at the venue.

Fresh from a slot at Gateways supporting Feeder and Razorlight, Liam will perform an acoustic set of his own material plus a couple of surprise covers.

And headlining is popular Groovy performer The Ruby Stone Sound, which will also return in January for the ‘David Bowie Birthday Party’.

The band’s lead singer, Dawn Stebbings, said: “We are thrilled to be back at Groovy Happening at last. It’s been a long time coming as we were due to play when the first lockdown came along and were so disappointed when it got cancelled.”
