LOCALLY-based covers band The Assembly is playing a gig in Keighley to raise funds for cancer charities.

And the causes have special meaning for band members, who are drawn from across the Keighley and Skipton areas.

“One of our members has been bravely living with terminal cancer now for some time and has also very recently lost another family member to the disease,” said a spokesperson.

The Assembly is performing the gig at Studio 5 Live, in Chesham Street, on Saturday, October 9.

The event starts at 7.30pm, and the band is expected to play at around 9pm.

Proceeds will go to Kidney Cancer UK and the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice, Manorlands.

“We’re very proud to be supporting these causes,” the spokesperson added.

“We’ll be doing our best to make this a very special night and we’d love to have people’s support in helping us raise as much as possible. Studio 5 Live has been very supportive and we’re lucky to have such a good venue here in Keighley.”

Entry is a minimum donation of £7.50, payable on the door.
