A KEIGHLEY company is adding punch to a boxer’s bid for a British title.

Clever Energy Boilers is sponsoring Troy Williamson as he attempts to claim the super-welterweight crown.

The 30-year-old, from Darlington, takes on defending champion Ted Cheeseman at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on October 9.

Clever Energy Boilers director Jon Broadbent said the company had a proud track record of supporting grassroots sport, but that this was its first foray into professional boxing.

“Troy Williamson is such an exciting prospect that we jumped at the chance to sponsor him,” Mr Broadbent added.

“We work across the north and Midlands, so we had to support a fellow northerner in his challenge!”

Williamson turned professional in 2016 after a successful amateur career which saw him take gold in the English national and Great Britain championships. Of his 17 fights, he has won 16 and drawn the other.
