FIRST it was electric cars to replace petrol and diesel, now it’s ground and air source heat pumps instead of gas boilers.
I realise that Boris Johnson wants to reel off some green proposals in the lead-up to the UN Climate Change Conference COP26, to make him look good, but nobody has considered how much these changes cost, nor whether they are remotely practical - it is estimated that around half of homes in the UK cannot accommodate heat pumps.
Also such switches come at a tremendous cost. I wouldn’t mind an electric car, but they are way out of my price range.
It seems to me that our government is spewing ill-thought-out hot air - maybe it could be used to power one or two desk lamps.
