IT was good to read in the Keighley News that KVU Singers were to perform once again following the easing of restrictions caused by the Covid pandemic.
I sang for 12 years in the bass section of this choir, thoroughly enjoying my participation, until throat problems compelled me on medical advice to stop singing.
The choir has long had a fine reputation in competitive circles, but it is undervalued locally. Therefore I find it quite odd that the choir’s ‘phoenix’ concert was to take place at Skipton. This is a Keighley choir (KVU=Keighley Vocal Union) so why choose a performance venue nine miles away? Is an ‘away’ performance likely to boost the choir’s standing in its home town?
