A WARNING has been issued to motorists after the theft of another catalytic converter from a vehicle in Keighley.
In the latest incident, a vehicle parked in Holme Mill Lane – in the Fell Lane area – was targeted sometime between last Wednesday (October 20) and Friday.
Earlier this year, a campaign was launched by Crimestoppers following a surge in thefts of the converters – which clean fumes before they leave an exhaust pipe. In the first three months of this year, there were nearly 600 reported thefts of the devices across Yorkshire – a whopping 78 per cent up on the same period in 2020.
A number of incidents have been reported in the Keighley area.
The Neighbourhood Watch Network, which backed the campaign, urges people to remain vigilant about where they park their vehicle – choosing a busy, well-lit area, ideally with CCTV coverage, wherever possible.
