A STEETON man returned to Skipton Auction Mart – where he was once foreman – to present a trophy first awarded in his name 21 years ago.
The Royston Baxter Trophy goes to the champion at the Dalesbred Sheep Breeders’ Association final seasonal prize show and sale of registered rams and females.
Royston handed-over the accolade honouring this year’s winner, a ram from Yockenthwaite father and son Stuart and Ed Hird.
There was also a charity element to the event, with three sticks handcrafted by Royston being sold – for a total of £1,180 – in aid of Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands.
Andrew Wood, for Manorlands, said: “It was very kind of Royston to choose the hospice to benefit.”
