A GROUP of Bangladeshi business leaders from Keighley and Bradford has given a boost to good causes.

A £1,000 cheque has been presented to the charity appeal of the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Shabir Hussain.

Appeal chairman Dr Manoj Joshi organised a reception in the mayor’s office with Councillor Ashraf Miah and Fulzar Ahmed, who presented the cheque and pledged the group’s continued support to the fund – in aid of Marie Curie Hospice Bradford and Bradford Community Kitchen.

Certificates of appreciation were presented to Councillor Miah, Mr Ahmed, Azad Uddin, Anwar Ali, Mastab Ali, Ala Uddin, Syed Md Anwar Hussain, Shamim Ahmed, Ruhel Miah, Ismail Ali Shabul, Ansar Ali and Shahab Uddin.

The Lord Mayor, Cllr Hussain, said: “I am extremely grateful to the businessmen who attended. An event such as this speaks volumes about the efforts of our business community and the commitment it has to good causes. Although they are extremely busy people, their support and generous donation will make a difference to charities that do so much to improve the lives of people in our community.”
