TISH Lawson spoke to Keighley Men’s Forum about the history and development of the theatre in Bradford.
The talk covered from the early part of the 20th century and included the Alhambra, St George’s Hall and Princes Theatre. “The name Vesta Tilley – Burlington Bertie – was mentioned from earlier times and more recent comedians Norman Evans and Albert Modley,” said a forum spokesperson. “Tish included the Keighley theatres Britannia Hall and the Queens, both sadly demolished some years ago.” Thanks were given by president Dave Smith.
On November 25, David W Davies will talk on Britain at Ease. The forum meets at Keighley Playhouse on Thursdays, from 9.45am.
