A KEIGHLEY building society branch is collecting items to help the homeless this winter.

New hats, gloves and scarves – plus toiletries and non-perishable foodstuffs – can be taken along to the town’s Yorkshire Building Society, in Low Street.

The premises are an official donation station for Homeless Not Hopeless.

A spokesperson said: “Homeless Not Hopeless is a voluntary organisation established in 2019.

“Those who experience homelessness include people spending nights in shelters, on the streets, in abandoned buildings or even couch surfing. There is no single reason why someone can end-up without a home. Personal circumstances and wider factors both play their part.”

Fiona Doyle, customer consultant at the society’s Keighley branch, said: “As we head into the colder months of the year, we really want to help make a difference at this time to those that are in need.

“Hopefully the people of Keighley can support us to support those that need it the most.”

Items can be taken to the branch between 9.30am and 4.30pm Wednesdays or between 9am and 4.30pm other weekdays. The collection runs until December 31.
