A COMPANY chief executive has received a coveted award.

Andy Bairstow, of Keighley-based PFF Group, has been named Family Business Director of the Year.

The accolade is from the Institute of Directors.

Mr Bairstow founded PFF 28 years ago, with his wife Michelle.

The business has grown from a small family operation producing plastics for imported toiletries to one of the UK’s largest specialist food packaging manufacturers.

During the pandemic, Mr Bairstow led PFF's diversification into healthcare products – establishing a separate division to produce personal protective equipment for frontline healthcare workers.

He said: "I am delighted and honoured to have won this prestigious award, which celebrates the success of the whole PFF team in rising to the unprecedented challenges of the past year but also recognises the contribution of family businesses to the UK economy. Our divisions are members of Made in Britain, an initiative which champions UK manufacturing."
