A LATE-night shopping event in Haworth – the first of two being staged in the village as part of the countdown to Christmas – has been hailed as a huge success.
Many independent traders in Main Street stayed open until 8pm yesterday, and the response from the public was positive.
Diane Park, owner of Wave of Nostalgia bookshop, said: "It was a huge success for us.
"It was fabulous to see our store so full, following what’s been a really tough 18 months for retailers.
"By coming to visit the shop, the community is not only helping us but is also supporting all the local suppliers and artisans whose products we stock.
"We were absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to provide customers with more shopping time outside of normal hours and we can't wait to do it all again."
The second late-night shopping event is on Thursday, December 9.
Bradford Council’s executive member for healthy people and places, Councillor Sarah Ferriby, said: "It’s fantastic to see shoppers safely returning to local high streets, supporting independent businesses. There's so much in terms of shopping opportunities and we have a wealth of retailers who can offer special and unusual gifts."
