A MAN from Bradford has been fined for assaulting a police officer.
James Cowling, 27 of South View Road, Bradford pleaded guilty to the charge 'assault by beating of an emergency worker', at Kirklees Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 4.
Cowling assaulted a police officer at his own home on May 21, 2021 whilst the officer was on duty.
Contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 and section 1 of the Assaults on Emergency Workers (Offences) Act 2018, he has been ordered to pay a fine of £800, a surcharge to fund victim services of £80 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The defendant's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing sentence.
He must pay £100 a month to pay off the total of £965.
