A FEW months ago the Keighley News carried an item about local bigwigs going to sort out the mess in Utley Cemetery.

And yes, it got sorted to a modest degree. But it didn't last.

This photo shows a monster heap of old tree cuttings, there for months. If you think that’s OK, try to find anything like it in well-kept-up Lister Park, in Bradford. At least the monster heap had a wire bin in front of it – but now even that has gone, so we have all the dead flowers and paper bags and beer bottles just chucked in amongst the tree mess.

Please, Bradford Council, the next time you’re prettily polishing-up the corners in your ‘local’ parks, just remember we pay our rates here too.

Roy Butterfield, Low Utley

* A Bradford Council spokesperson said: "We are working day in and day out to keep Utley Cemetery in the best possible condition. The cuttings have now been cleared. The bin, which someone took, will be replaced as soon as possible."
