A TEAM from Stanbury Village School joined nearly 2,000 other 'Santas' for a five-kilometre charity run.

More than 50 children, parents and members of staff took part in the Great Skipton Santa Fun Run.

"We are a small school of only 117 pupils so were really pleased with the turnout," said a spokesperson.

"The team, led by our headteacher Graham Swinbourne, had a fantastic morning."

As one of the first ten organisations relating to children to enter a team of 25 or more in the event, the school received £250.

And with money raised through sponsorship, the funds will be used to provide additional resources for the school.

The run – and walk – is organised by the Rotary Club of Skipton Craven.

Support is provided by Skipton Town Council, Craven Council and Skipton Business Improvement District.

Many of the participants raise money for their own chosen causes, but charities including the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands also benefit.

Other teams taking part this year included Carers' Resource.

Thirty staff, volunteers, unpaid carers and clients from the organisation participated, together raising more than £1,600.

The money will help fund emotional and practical support for unpaid carers from across the district.
