A HOUSEBUILDER has donated £1,650 to charities helping the homeless.

Keighley Salvation Army is among 11 organisations to share in the funding, from Barratt Developments Yorkshire West.

The firm – whose developments include Saxon Dene, Silsden – said the donation was part of an "ongoing commitment to supporting the communities in which it builds".

Darren Johnson, construction director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, said: "We wanted to support the charities which do commendable work to help those facing homelessness.

"We're really pleased to have been able to support these organisations and hope that our donation helps them to continue providing assistance to people across West Yorkshire."

The company has also recently given over £950 to NHS organisations in the region, in the form of hampers.
