PEOPLE across Keighley are being urged to support an annual campaign aimed at tackling loneliness.

The Great Winter Get Together, organised by the Jo Cox Foundation, is encouraging people to open-up about the topic.

"Winter is the loneliest season of the year and research shows that only a quarter of Brits feel comfortable telling a friend or relative about feeling lonely," said Su Moore, the foundation's chief executive officer.

"We need to have the courage to talk about loneliness. And reach out to someone you know who might be lonely, or organise an event to bring people together. The smallest actions can make the biggest difference."

The campaign begins next week and runs until January 30.
