FISHING for Compliments is headlining at the 113th Groovy Happening in Haworth.

The event takes place upstairs at the Parkside Social Club this Saturday (February 5), at 7.30pm.

Admission is £4, payable by cash only, with all proceeds going to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands. Over the years, Groovy Happening has raised £40,550.

Up first – and making his Groovy debut – will be Tony King, who describes himself as "a very young 64-year-old songwriter and performer who sacrificed his music for a career in retail".

He will be followed by Riley & Rose Acoustic – accompanied on stage by cajon and bass players – covering a variety of popular hits.

Next-up is another Groovy debutant, covers band Threads. It plays indie/rock music, with influences including The Strokes, Oasis and The Smiths.

And Fishing for Compliments completes the line-up. The five-piece indie/folk/pop band is making its second Groovy appearance. It comprises singer/songwriter Eileen Wattam, aka Eileen Alanna; Ashley Wattam on rhythm guitar; James Alexander, lead guitar and backing vocals; Steve Dyson, bass and backing vocals, and David Sharp, drums/percussion. The band has been performing for over ten years and recently released its debut album, Off the Isle of Somewhere.
