AN amateur operatic society is staging a concert to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Seventy Years of Song will be presented by Haworth West Lane Baptist Amateur Operatic Society.

The show is being performed at the baptist chapel at 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 11, and Friday, May 13, and at 2.30pm on Saturday, May 14.

A spokesperson said: "Following a low-key Christmas concert to get back into the swing of performing after Covid, the society is now rehearsing for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration. They'll share 70 years of song – from musical theatre and beyond – with chances for people to join in or simply sit back and be entertained!"

Tickets are £8 – or £5 for children – and will be available from next week from ticketsource.co.uk/haworth-aos, or from members.

The society would also like to hear from anyone interested in joining.

"It's a very friendly and welcoming society – and don’t let the ‘operatic’ in the title put you off!" said the spokesperson. "Members simply love to sing all sorts of music in each other’s company and all ages and abilities are welcome."

Rehearsals are at the chapel on Wednesdays, at 7.30pm.
