STUDENTS at a Cullingworth school found the recipe for success in a culinary contest.

Eighteen year-eight pupils at Parkside took part in a Ready, Steady, Cook type challenge.

They took along their own ingredients and cooked a dish from French or Spanish-speaking countries.

Caroline Shaw, modern foreign languages teacher at Parkside, said: "There was a variety of exceptional dishes, ranging from a seafood paella to a tomato ratatouille. It's safe to say it was a tough call to choose a winner!

"A huge 'thank you' goes to all the participants, who worked very hard to cook authentic dishes."

Winners were Aidan Dixon, Aimee Leetham and Jack Lonsdale – from 8 Bronte D – who cooked a Mexican burrito with cheesy nachos.

* Parkside School has raised £166 in support of the Marie Curie charity, which stages a Great Daffodil Appeal.

"Thank you to everyone who donated," said a school spokesperson.
