I NOTICED on one of my occasional trips into Keighley that once again the job centre has been moved, this time to the now-empty Beales building.

There cannot be many towns that have such a peripatetic job centre.

How much money has been spent on moving this service over the years? It seems to me that just because a building is empty, that is no reason to move the job centre with all of the costs associated with that move.

It appears to be a waste of public money.

* A spokesperson for the Department for Work and Pensions said: "Temporary job centres such as the one opened in Keighley will be at the heart of the Government’s Way to Work campaign to encourage more people across Great Britain into jobs.

"Towns and cities from Falkirk to Torquay are now home to over 150 new temporary job centres and over 150 youth hubs, with more to follow, as the Government pledges to get 500,000 people a job by the end of June.

"Work coaches at job centres are at the forefront of the Government’s drive to help people access the support they need to get into work."
