KEIGHLEY social workers could win recognition for going 'above and beyond'.

Nominations are now being sought for the Social Worker of the Year Awards.

Members of the public are being encouraged to put forward the name of anyone they feel deserves to be recognised.

The awards are divided into 17 categories, across adult and children's services.

And this year there are two new accolades, the Supporting Children in Education Award and Digital Transformation in Social Work Award, recognising the impact of the pandemic and the extent to which technology now helps social work teams.

Peter Hay, chair of the awards programme, said: "Social work is such an important and demanding profession.

"The Social Worker of the Year Awards provide the opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary work carried out by those who serve in the sector. If you know an inspiring social worker in this region, make sure you let them know by nominating them."

Finalists from across the country will attend an awards ceremony in London in November, and there will be a reception at the Houses of Parliament in March next year.

The deadline for nominations is June 24.
