A KEIGHLEY rap star was chosen to perform at Eid concerts with British Asian music legends.

Islam Hussain – aka Issy – was selected by promoters to appear with the likes of Tasha Tah, Imran Khan and H Dhami.

It's a busy period for the former pupil of South Craven School, Cross Hills.

After writing material for up to two albums during lockdown, he has started performing at BBC Radio1Xtra events UK-wide.

And he's been invited to appear at Durham Boat Party and Reggae Festival next month.

"I've been learning from the legends – it's an exciting journey for me," said Issy.

He pays tribute to the support received from his father, Saby Khan, an award-winning music promoter.

"The family has over 300 years of musical history – dating back to British India where my forefathers played Sufi Kalam music," added Issy.

"I'm hoping to keep the family tradition alive."
