With the Community Pub of the Year Award at the Dickie Bird
BEFORE my term as town mayor came to an end, myself and husband Chris went to the Dickie Bird pub at Thwaites Brow as it was presented with the Community Pub of the Year Award from CAMRA.
Whilst at the pub I chatted with the landlord (I wasn’t attending in an official capacity) and told him about my charities. This resulted in him doing an impromptu collection from customers, a game of stand-up bingo and a football card with proceeds boosting our funds.
I left with a further £225 for my charities and fully knowing why the pub deserved the honour. What a fantastic team and a true community pub in every sense of the word!
