A JUNIOR football club whose funds have been badly hit by the pandemic is staging its first fundraising fun day for two years – and is urging people to give their support.

Oakworth Juniors is staging the event at Bronte playing fields – off Goose Cote Lane – next Saturday (June 25), from 10am.

Matches for all age groups will take place throughout the day, and there will be a special game involving Manorlands mascots.

Other attractions will include bouncy castles, stalls, games, entertainment and food and drink. And the club will be holding its presentation day at the same time.

People are asked where possible to walk to the venue, or use public transport, because parking is limited.

Club chair Damian Holmes says such events are vital to keep the organisation running.

"We provide grassroots football for hundreds of youngsters and we keep our charges as low as possible to be as inclusive as possible," he said.

"The club is completely volunteer run."

Anyone able to assist with prize draw and tombola prizes, or businesses wishing to sponsor matches, are asked to leave a message on the Oakworth Juniors FC official Facebook page or email Mr Holmes on dcaholmes@gmail.com.
