A group that joined forces to raise money for a local charity have raised thousands of pounds within their first year.

The Oakworth Fundraising Group was formed in June 2021 with the intention of holding events to raise money for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

And after a year of their fundraising efforts, which included hosting a trendy fashion show, tombolas, and raffles. As well as volunteering to man the merchandise stall at the hospice’s Starlight Hike Worth Valley event last autumn, the group raised a staggering £3,000 for their chosen charity.

The group presented their first donation in April 2022, where it was graciously received by Senior Community Fundraiser, Hayley Ibbotson.

Hayley said: “Donations from local groups like the Oakworth Fundraising Group are invaluable and help Sue Ryder continue to provide vital end-of-life support for those who need it most.

After a couple of difficult years due to the coronavirus pandemic, we need the help of our communities more than ever. We are extremely grateful for fundraising efforts like this, no matter how big or small.”

Oakworth Fundraising Group is also hosting an Afternoon Tea event on Sunday 26th June to continue its efforts.

Tickets are available for £12 each and can be purchased by contacting Sue on 07766 371638.
