RAIL operator Northern's customer service team has won recognition.

The company's customer experience centre has been awarded coveted ServiceMark accreditation.

The quality mark is from the Institute of Customer Service, which paid tribute to the "passionate and service-focused" team.

Northern, which runs services on the Airedale line, handles over 250,000 customer enquiries a year through its centre.

Mark Powles, for the company, said: "This assessment is a ringing endorsement of our vision to make a positive impact for the north in all we do and for all we serve – putting the customer at the heart of our business."

Jo Causon, of the Institute of Customer Service, said: "Achieving ServiceMark accreditation shows the work that Northern’s customer experience centre has done in becoming more customer-centric."
