AN initiative to help people in the district with mental health issues find employment has won recognition.

The scheme, run by Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, has been awarded the so-called Individual Placement and Support Grow Quality Kite Mark.

Members of the team behind the service have formed partnerships with employers and help individuals to address barriers to finding work, assisting with CVs and job searching.

Over 300 people have benefited.

Team leader, Nosheen Zabir, said: "Being in work is a key part of recovery from mental ill health for many.

"Only 37 per cent of people using mental health services are in employment, yet we know that 70 to 90 per cent would like the chance to work with the right support.

"Our service is tailored to individuals – we understand what people’s interests, skills and experiences are and we can then develop provision that meets those needs."
