A FUNDRAISING night got hospital supporters all shook up.

The Elvis & Friends event coined-in over £1,100 for Airedale Hospital’s haematology and oncology day unit.

Tribute act Colin Paul performed, and there was a raffle with prizes donated by businesses.

"We had seen Colin perform earlier in the year and thought it would be great if we could organise our own event to raise money for the unit," says regular fundraiser and event organiser, Nicola Wheeler.

"Having seen the amazing work the unit does and how much patients benefit from donations, we are very grateful for the support given both by local businesses which generously donated raffle prizes and everyone who bought tickets and came along on the night to make this such a successful event."

There are already plans to repeat the venture, which was held at the Hollygarth Social Club in Ilkley, next year.

Jodie Hearnshaw, manager of Airedale Hospital & Community Charity, says: "This is an incredible amount – we're so grateful to Nicola, who is such a great fundraiser and supporter of the unit.

"The team on the unit will be able to use these funds to continue to improve the facilities and experience for patients."
