A CHARITY event at a Worth Valley gym raised over £2,300.

Fourteen two-strong teams took part in the workout competition at NuBod Gym.

It was the first contest to be held since NuBod moved to its new, bigger premises at Hebden Road, Oxenhope.

Teams completed four workouts, each lasting ten to 12 minutes.

Exercises ranged from burpees and knee raises to rowing.

The event also included a lunchtime barbecue.

Overall, £2,386 was raised for Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands, which relies on donations and fundraising for most of its income.

James Turner, who co-owns NuBod Gym with partner Shelby Hardinge, says: "The day went amazingly well – we had some very good feedback from participants and spectators.

"The workouts consisted of everything that you would expect in a typical CrossFit workout/competition.

"One member alone, Seth Berry, whose grandma sadly passed away in Manorlands recently, raised more than £1,300.

"Following the success of the event, we can confidently say it is something we will repeat annually."
