A LEAF-clearing blitz spearheaded by two village councillors has been hailed as a success.

More than half a dozen volunteers took part in yesterday's (November 18) venture, at Oakworth.

Cllr Luke Maunsell, who organised the clear-up with fellow Oakworth-ward Keighley town councillor Mark Curtis, says: "Thanks go to the amazing team of volunteers that helped.

"The main road gets particularly bad at this time of year with fallen leaves, and the pavements become slippy for residents.

"We were able to clear the main road, and Station Road down to the school, making the area safer for people.

"Our leaf clear-up has become a yearly endeavour, and this was by far the most efficient and successful we have had to date."

Cllr Curtis said: "More hands do make light work, and we really 'branched' out and did a 'tree-mendous' job! Also, we'd like to thank a resident in Station Road who gave us some chocolate fingers as a treat!"
