TWO Silsden residential homes have hosted events to bring together the generations.

Springbank, part of the Spellman Care group, held two 'schools out for summer' sessions.

Children joined residents for crafts, games and homemade treats.

"We're incredibly pleased to have hosted such delightful events," said home manager, Lisa Pickles.

"Intergenerational activities like these have all-round benefits. Residents feel a sense of purpose and fulfilment from interacting with the younger generation, whilst the children have the opportunity to learn valuable life lessons and develop empathy."

And Summerfield Residential Care Home teamed up with Dradishaw House Day Nursery for an activity.

Children and residents had a picnic, and were joined by two visiting guinea pigs – Toffee and Turri.

"It was lovely to see everyone having a good time in the garden," said a spokesperson.

"The two cheeky guinea pigs provided cuddles, and their owner explained all about their habits and needs."
