ANGER has been voiced after mourners attending the funeral of a popular former pub landlord were given parking tickets.
People who'd left their vehicles in Victoria Road, Keighley, were issued with tickets whilst at the service at The Knowle.
The funeral was for Phil Booth, former long-time landlord of the award-winning Boltmakers Arms, in East Parade. He died aged 65.
His brother, Simon, from Haworth, says: "Granted the vehicles were parked on yellow lines, but they weren't causing any obstruction and it was made clear to the wardens that the people concerned were mourners at a funeral.
"Surely the wardens could have shown some empathy and sympathy, rather than simply picking on easy targets.
"I think it's disgusting.
"I complained to the council and was told the individuals concerned would have to appeal."
A Bradford Council spokesperson told the Keighley News: "We do sympathise with the mourners attending the funeral.
"However, our parking wardens must issue tickets where vehicles are parked in contravention.
"Once a parking charge notice is issued, it cannot be recalled. The recipient would need to appeal if they felt it was incorrectly issued.
"On the day of the funeral two parking charge notices were issued in Victoria Road on the yellow line restriction. Yellow lines are put in place for managing vehicles and traffic on the highway and drivers should be aware of restrictions in the area where they are parking."
