IAN Bottomley – former senior curator at the Royal Armouries in Leeds – is guest speaker at the next meeting of Keighley and District Local History Society.
He will speak on The Gun Goes East, upstairs at Keighley Library on Wednesday, October 9.
Society spokesperson, Tim Neal, says: "Ian will describe how the Portuguese had trade guns made in Goa which they then spread further East, reaching Japan in 1543 and influencing that country's history. He will be bringing a couple of antique guns and accessories."
Admission to the meeting is £3.50, or free to society members.
Doors open at 7.15pm. Anyone arriving after 7pm should use the library side entrance in Albert Street.
Society members have the option of joining the meeting via Zoom.
