OLDER people in the district are facing "unprecedented challenges" – and a charity which supports them has issued a plea for help.
Age UK Bradford District says demand for its services has soared, and is set to rise further this winter.
The organisation has seen a 227 per cent increase in the number of people it's helping to access pension credit alone.
Now the charity is appealing to businesses, community groups and individuals for fundraising assistance.
Mark Rounding, chief executive officer of Age UK Bradford District, says: "Year-on-year it’s getting tougher for older people to live comfortably and this year sees a drastic change for many, as the cost of heating homes continues to rise and thousands lose access to the winter fuel payment. People are facing unprecedented challenges.
"We're bracing ourselves for a busy winter.
"The demand for our services has skyrocketed, and we simply cannot meet growing needs without increased community support."
