WITH regard to the Chancellor's autumn budget, I am delighted the Government has done the right thing and scrapped the two-child benefit cap, which will lift more than 30,000 children out of poverty in West Yorkshire and boost the life chances of those who need it most.
This budget also marked a major milestone in our region’s devolution journey, with an integrated settlement giving us more control over our decisions and greater funding to invest in housing, transport and skills – helping us deliver on our ambitious growth plan.
In addition to listening to mayors’ calls for a visitor levy, introducing the Leeds City Fund and committing to Northern Powerhouse Rail, the Chancellor has taken the fair and necessary choices today in order to shore up Britain’s future tomorrow.
