Eden Community Association in Parliamentary discussions

Representatives from Eden Community Association attended a meeting at Portcullis House in Westminster.

MP Apsana Begum – chair of the Bangladesh All-Party Parliamentary Group – and vice-chair Lord Richard Andrew Balfe, together with Bradford East MP Imran Hussain, were present.

Ashraf Miah, for Eden Community Association, says: "Discussions focussed on issues affecting the BAME community and other topics.

"Key issues included community development, emerging social challenges and the implications of new immigration legislation.

"Also, we highlighted our association's work in education, women’s engagement and wider community support in Keighley, stressing the importance of stronger partnerships between grassroots organisations and national decision-makers."

Ms Begum emphasised the role of community leadership in addressing inequality and encouraging civic participation.

And Mr Hussain outlined the importance of building confidence and aspiration, particularly among younger people.

Eden Community Association thanked Ms Begum for facilitating the meeting.
