SILSDEN Repair Cafe has received a funding boost.

It's among 15 repair cafes across England and Wales to this year share in over £18,800 from Enfinium.

The energy-from-waste operator launched its support fund in March last year, and so far has donated more than £35,000.

Silsden Repair Cafe sees people take along broken items, from toasters and lamps to toys and jewellery, for the attention of its volunteer experts.

The cafe is normally held on the third Saturday of every month at Silsden Methodist Church, between 9.30am-noon.

Enfinium chief executive officer, Mike Maudsley, says: "This has been yet another hugely successful year for our Repair Cafe Support Fund, with more grants helping these important initiatives thrive.

"A combined 3,700-plus items have been repaired by the 15 cafes, a powerful testament to the impact of communities in keeping valuable materials in use."

Louise Farnell, for Silsden Repair Cafe, says: "Thanks to Enfinium and its support fund, we’ve been able to welcome even more people through our door this year. The funding has helped us fix everything from vacuum cleaners to kettles, helping keep waste out of landfill and in use for longer. The funding makes a big difference in our community."
