A major new funding opportunity could support life-changing mental health work.
The £715,000 Men’s Mental Health Investment Fund is the latest stage of Mayor Skaith’s £7m Moving Forward campaign, dedicated to creating a healthier and thriving York and North Yorkshire.
David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, said: "Too many men are dying too young.
"This is a crisis that has touched too many families in York and North Yorkshire, and we must meet it with action.
"Knowing what to do when you’re struggling with your mental health is the first step, but it’s often harder to find support that is local and accessible."
The fund will support work to improve rural access to mental health care, reduce stigma, expand male-focused engagement, and invest in workplace mental health resources.
It also aims to support young people, particularly those who are neurodivergent, and strengthen digital services and information.
The mayor said the timing of the fund was especially important, adding: "Christmas can be a hard time for our communities, making the launch of this new £715,000 fund as part of my Moving Forward campaign even more vital."
Applications are open until Friday, January 2, 2026.
