POLICE say damage is being caused to Farnhill Moor by people making bike tracks.
Some people who have challenged those responsible, have been subject to abuse, say police who are investigating incidents of criminal damage and incidents of public order.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police (Craven) said: "Over a number of months, individuals have been digging up areas to make bike tracks. This causes damage not only to the local environment, but also to properties located below the moor which have suffered flood damage due to rainwater directed by these tracks.

"Although Farnhill Moor is public access, it is for walkers only and the use of bikes is prohibited. Signage which indicates 'no bikes' has been vandalised, and when people have been approached about their use of bikes on the moor they have been verbally abusive.
