ALMOST three-quarters of Yorkshire dog owners celebrate their pets' birthdays.
According to new research by DogFest, 72 per cent mark the occasion with a dog-safe birthday cake.
DogFest on the Farm will return to Harewood House on September 12 and 13, offering a weekend of canine-friendly fun.
Sam Matthews, marketing director for DogFest, said: "We’ve been celebrating the bond between owner and pet for years, so it’s no surprise to us just how dedicated people are to their dogs – but we’re very pleasantly surprised by just how many people are keen to mark their pet’s birthday.
"DogFest is all about celebrating the relationship we have with our canine companions, and it’s great to see that Yorkshire agrees that they’re truly part of the family."
The research also shows that 45 per cent of owners cook special meals for their dogs, while 65 per cent admit to feeding them leftovers more than once a month.
