AIREDALE Cricket Club have said goodbye to one of their own in style, writes Bill Marshall.
A memorial T20 match between Airedale and his former club Long Lee was played at the Airedale Oval in remembrance of the popular Jan Haider, who died in July aged 65.
Airedale’s Chloe Feather said: “It was a really special and emotional day in memory of Jan, and we were delighted to raise £800 for charity.
“The money will be split between Manorlands - £300 - which will be added to the ongoing JustGiving page Has (Jan’s son) has set up, and £500 for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
“We had a fantastic turnout, with everyone coming together to remember Jan, share some great memories and enjoy a day of cricket after a huge amount of work went into organising the day.”
Airedale’s Facebook page the day after the match stated: “A massive personal thank you to everyone who came along, donated, helped out and supported the day.
“Seeing so many friends and family come together to remember Jan, share stories, have a laugh and enjoy a day of cricket meant so much.
“The generosity shown yesterday was truly overwhelming, and we know Jan would have been incredibly proud to see everyone together celebrating his life.

Jan played for Long Lee from 2014-2021 and for Airedale after that, playing his last game for them on September 6, 2025.
