A CARE home is opening its doors to frontline workers in a gesture of gratitude.

Wharfeside Care Home, located in Keighley, will welcome emergency crews, district nurses, community nursing teams and other frontline professionals throughout November.

The home will offer complimentary hot and cold drinks, snacks and light refreshments as part of the initiative.

Louise Bulcock, home manager at Wharfeside Care Home, said: "We all know how hard our emergency services and healthcare professionals work and how much we rely on them every day.

"We wanted to show our appreciation for everything they do for our community.

"This initiative is our way of giving something back and letting local frontline teams know they will always receive a warm welcome at Wharfeside Care Home whenever they need a moment to recharge."

Visitors can take a break inside the care home or collect refreshments to take away if they are short on time.

For those who cannot stop for long, staff at Wharfeside will also prepare grab-and-go snack bags.

The idea was created by residents and colleagues as a way of thanking professionals who "work tirelessly to care for, protect and support people across the local community."
