Police are appealing for witnesses after a 49-year-old man was assaulted by two men in a Keighley street.

The victim, a local resident, had parked his car on Malsis Road and was heading to the shops when a group of men asked him for a cigarette.

When he declined, he was then asked for £20.

When he refused again, the victim was struck on the head and fell to the floor where two men continued to assault him.

Det Insp Peter Craig said: “He sustained further blows to his body before a good Samaritan walking a Rottweiler dog disturbed the men and they ran off.

“We would like to speak to the dog walker and appeal for anyone who saw or has any information about the incident to come forward.”

The victim sustained bruising, facial and arm injuries in the attack — which happened at 4.30pm, on Monday last week — and was taken to Airedale Hospital.

The good Samaritan is described as in his late 50s, of big build and balding but with short dark hair around the side.

The alleged attackers are described as Asian and aged between 18 and 20 years old.

The first suspect is 5ft 10in with a goatee beard. He was wearing a dark zipped up jacket with the hood up.

The second suspect is around 5ft 6in tall with bucked teeth and acne. He was wearing dark clothing with the hood up.
