Efforts to spruce up a woodland beauty spot in Cullingworth will continue this autumn.
Volunteers of all ages from the village have already carried out two clean-up sessions in the Dell. They rebuilt steps that lead down to the wood by using rubble illegally tipped nearby.
Local youngsters also learned about plant life and animals in the Dell, which is near Cullingworth's Co-operative mini market. The sessions were led by Bradford Environmental Education Services (BEES) at the request of Cullingworth Village Council.
BEES workers plan to return for more sessions, probably next month and in December, with volunteers including local Scouts. Activities will include bat box making and tree planting.
BEES worker Rob Ashford said those taking part in the first sessions included youngsters from the Scarecrows school holiday club.
He said: “They were brilliant. They did a litter pick and looked around the wood to see what's in there.”
The project is one of 12 being carried out across the district by BEES, funded with Government cash through the Community Space Challenge.
BEES plans a similar project in Keighley in coming months with other local organisations.
