Silsden Library hosted a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party as part of a district-wide week of fun reading events.

Children munched Jaffa cakes and made Alice In Wonderland-themed hats during the session on Tuesday. Bradford Council organised a programme of story times, craft workshops and poetry events to tie in with Children’s Book Week.

There will be a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party story time and hat-making session tomorrow at 3.30pm in Keighley Library.

School groups across the district have taken part in events with authors including teen horror novelist Darren Shan.

Coun Susan Hinchcliffe, the Council’s executive member responsible for culture, said the events were aimed at getting children excited about reading.

She said: “It is a great time for children to join their local library and to start to discover the wonderful world of books.”
