Geoffrey Rundle, a giant of Keighley theatre for half a century, has died aged 85.
Geoffrey, the president of Keighley Amateurs, died at his home in Oakworth on Sunday.
The Amateurs are this week devoting performances of their musical Happy Days to his memory.
Geoffrey was a maths teacher for many years, first in Silsden then at South Craven School where he became head of lower school.
He was best-known to Keighley people for the pantomimes he wrote and performed in with Keith Marsden, and their scripts continue to be performed each year by the Amateurs. Geoffrey’s son Mark described his father as a pleasant, selfless and dedicated man who had time for everybody. He said: “My father had an impish sense of fun. He always enjoyed seeing other people develop, both in the theatre and as a teacher.”
Mr Marsden described Geoffrey as “a pal” who, when the pair were writing, liked to let the funny ideas bubble around before they made it into their scripts.
