The former head of Laycock Primary School returned to officially open the school’s new pond.
Lena Proctor, who retired last March, was surrounded by pupils, parents and grandparents at the ceremony.
Dawn Noutch, the school’s parental involvement worker, and parent Marcus Dickenson spoke about the project and future plans for the school’s garden.
Dawn said: “The Jubilee Pond was developed by parent volunteers and will be an added bonus for all to enjoy throughout the school year including community events and learning.”
The Friends of Laycock Primary School gained a £250 grant from Keighley Area Committee’s Jubilee Fund for the pond.
Also held on the day of the opening was a coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Children had a non-uniform day and donated 50p each.
Dawn said: “There was an overwhelming response from parents, grandparents, staff and governors for donations of cakes to sell, and many parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles came along to the event.”
The school, which has 82 pupils, raised £175 for Macmillan.
