Learning has entered a new chapter for Glusburn Community Primary School pupils.
A group of year six children visited Anchor’s Townend Close care home to share their books with residents.
The youngsters read aloud and discussed their favourite stories and authors.
Headteacher Richard Hunt said: “It is hoped the children will build good relationships with the residents as it is intended they will visit weekly.
“As well as sharing reading, I would like the children to further develop an understanding of their community and the special people that live in it.
“It is important children are able to recognise that beyond school and home there are many different types of people – young and old, rich and poor and from different backgrounds to their own.”
