A YOUNG apprentice from Sutton-in-Craven has secured a place in the qualifying stages of a national competition.
Daniel Appleby, 22, a third year apprentice at John Macadam and Son, will compete at the IMI Skill Auto National Qualifiers in June after being ranked among the top 30 in an online test.
“We’re really proud of Daniel and his hard work with Macadams,” said Sarah Macadam, human resources manager.
“Reaching the qualifiers is testament to his hard work and commitment to the industry. He loves what he does and has a vivid attention to detail.”
Daniel joined the Macadams team, working in the bodyshop at the Colne depot.
Dave Horn, his tutor at Training 2000, said: “Daniel’s work is really good and as he is nearing the end of his apprenticeship, we thought this would be a great way to celebrate his skills.”
Run by the Institute of the Motor Industry, the competition involves six tasks showcasing technical and practical ability, as well as a knowledge-based test. The top six will progress to the live finals held at the Skills Show where bronze, silver and gold medals will be awarded.
